So, the first Presidential Debate happened last night, and by any account Kerry came out on top. Even the nuttiest of the right-wing blogs were conceding that Bush didn't really defend himself and didn't present himself well. There were a few great quotables, but you can read those anywhere.

"Tell us how you really feel, Unca Mango! Preferably in free verse."

So how does it feel
you son of a bitch?

No teleprompters
No handlers
No scripts
No one to save your petulant fratboy ass
from the ravages of facts on the ground.

How does it feel
to know that it's just you,
your opponent,
and fifty million of your closest friends
but no one close enough
to put that hand up your ass
and move your mouth?

How does it feel
to get waffle-stomped
by someone who can refute
your lies, misquotes, and untruths
within thrity seconds
of their existence,
where no one can save you,
restate you,
explain you?

Live without a net,
and you fell.
You were handed the ball,
and you fumbled.
You were certain, and resolute, and solemn,
and wrong.

How does it feel?
Only you know.
But from here,
it was nice to know
that I could sleep
knowing that for one night
the good guys
had finally won.

I know Kerry's a local boy, but I would hardly class him as a good guy. Remember, he is a politician. Also, keep in mind that even if Dubya loses the election, he will still be rich, will still be referred to as "Mr.President", that Halliburton will not lose the money they made in Iraq, that the Saudi elite remain in Saudi Arabia and that thousands will stay dead from his policies in Afghanistan and Iraq. Yes, the Emperor has no clothes, but it is 4 years too late :-(

True, but better four years too late in January 2005 than eight years too late in January 2009.

Oh, I agree that regime change is needed (those that live by the sword die by the sword), and I think that Kerry will do a good job. I just wish Bush wasn't getting away with it whether he wins or loses this election :-( I would like to see him just as vilified as Nixon *spit*.

yeah, it would have been good to see some calls for impeachment over the last 4 years.

It's the House who impeaches. The House which has a Republican majority.

yes, but the public and the press can set up a ruckus when there's been as mich funny business and conflict of interest as we've been seeing, and put some pressure on the house.

Oh my God. I love you. If you weren't already married, I'd propose. ;)

Did you notice that W seemed to have a small box-shaped lump inside the back of his jacket? No, that wasn't a microphone.

Did you notice that he didn't seem to be taking any notes to speak of? or, I mean, to speak from?

Did you notice that it took him about ten seconds after each question was asked before he even tried to answer it?

Yeah, you know what I'm talking about.
