May. 8th, 2002 09:19 pmCar ownership is a relatively expensive lifestyle choice.
Owning a high-strung teutonic driving machine can be a really expensive lifestyle choice, although if you're really exacting about the maintenance, it's no worse/better than any other car.
That being said, having a really cranky car which is perpetually in for little and no-so-little annoying repairs is getting really old. Even if the dealership completely pays for the repairs and a rental car (which they did last time), it's still extraordinarily annoying.
My luck with cars has not been the greatest. I'm on my fourth car in four years, with none of the previous destruction being my fault, at least as far as the insurance company was concerned. Nevertheless, I have to wonder if someone is trying to tell me something. I've actually been thinking harder about my own driving habits, and how I treat cars. However, the only thing I come away with is that I keep it fairly well, at least in terms of regular care and feeding, and that I'm not a truly dangerous driver.
Realization: My car karma lives in a dimension of pure dookie.
