A breakfast equation
Dec. 4th, 2005 09:11 amOkay. I'm a big fat hypocrite. I have said any number of times in the past that I actively try to avoid doing "here's what I had for breakfast" blogging, but well.... I just cooked up my first batch of steel-cut oats for the season.
The snow outside just adds to the essential warmth of the experience.
Yay.
Steel-cut oats + yogurt-based butter analogue + salt + 1.5 slices of American Cheese -------------------------------- = A world of yum.
The snow outside just adds to the essential warmth of the experience.
Yay.

Date: 2005-12-04 07:05 pm (UTC)I see no reason to post about the daily comings and goings of my life... it's just not all that different from any other middle-class geek's to be interesting. So, when I say "breakfast blogging", I typically mean "blogging the minutia of my daily routine", which I find to be generally pointless. This also to extends to anything which might be part of my normal daily routine, like cooking breakfast. The reason I made the exception is because it was something I haven't done in a very long time.
By the by, hearing you sing "Somewhere That's Green" was wonderful. The last time I heard anyone sing it was in the movie, where (combined with the imagery), it was played exclusively for laughs. Hearing the lyrics sung without the imagery made the song almost... spooky, in a way. Suburbia becomes this completely synthetic escapist fantasy, where everything is manufactured and perfect. Fascinating stuff.

Obvious, obligatory, and not entirely correct. I need more coffee.

Date: 2005-12-04 03:56 pm (UTC)Granted, I can't eat oatmeal, so I wouldn't really know.

Date: 2005-12-04 04:22 pm (UTC)Oatmeal is best with a little butter and fresh maple syrup.
It's pretty good with butter, brown sugar and some nuts.
I'll happily eat it with a tiny smidge of milk and some sugar and cinnamon.
Cheese? No.
