Okay. I'm a big fat hypocrite. I have said any number of times in the past that I actively try to avoid doing "here's what I had for breakfast" blogging, but well.... I just cooked up my first batch of steel-cut oats for the season.

  Steel-cut oats
+ yogurt-based butter analogue
+ salt
+ 1.5 slices of American Cheese
--------------------------------
= A world of yum.

The snow outside just adds to the essential warmth of the experience.
Yay.

I dunno, I was just reading the Staxmas invite and saw potato Latkes and thought...Mmm, I could eat those for breakfast! Of course, i don't know how to make them so I'd have to go buy them. Then I'd have to post about the adventure so I would, too, have to write what I ate for breakfast. So even though you would be a hypocrite, you wouldn't be alone. :)

I ate potato latkes for breakfast just yesterday! Local Jewish-deli place does them as a breakfast side order. :)

My first thought

Local Jewish-deli place

"Shabbat shalom, y'all!"

Obvious, obligatory, and not entirely correct. I need more coffee.

Granted, I can't eat oatmeal, so I wouldn't really know.

I do eat oatmeal... and this weirds me out. Cheese? On oatmeal? NEVER!

Oatmeal is best with a little butter and fresh maple syrup.
It's pretty good with butter, brown sugar and some nuts.
I'll happily eat it with a tiny smidge of milk and some sugar and cinnamon.
Cheese? No.

But American pasteurized process cheese food isn't cheese. He's all good.

No, but you did say American Cheese. I know of no other translation.

Land O Lakes white American cheese, from the deli counter, to be specific. Boar's Head also makes an acceptable version, but I like LOL more. The key is the deli counter.

There. Is. No. Cheese. "Food." In. My. House.

All cheese. All the time. Like the Brits, I do not fuck around with my dairy.

Personally, I liked the steel-cut oatmeal I had this morning, with cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg, raisins, dried cranberries, maple syrup, vanilla, and milk.
