Observation:It's true that I may eventually run out of "random errands that I've been putting off for months, and now can do, due to being unemployed and having an abundance of free time," but I haven't yet, and I don't see any end to them for the forseeable.
One of the things I've been doing with my newfound copious free time is going back through my photos, back when I used a film camera. At this point, I've gone almost entirely digital, with convenience and total cost being the most compelling reasons. For reasons unbeknownst to me, I'm completely hopeless with an SLR. I've just never been able to squeeze a good photo out of even a marginally expensive film camera. Give me a point-and-shoot, film or digital, and I can work wonders. As in, portfolio-quality stuff. It makes me happy.
Harper's: Minimum age of photos, in years, before one sees the gradual aging process in one's friends: 6
People lose hair. Some gain it. Some go grey. Some go purple. Fatter, thinner, wiser, weirder, etc. Actually seeing the passage of time on a slower scale than a clock or a calendar. I've been doing more of that lately. I think it has something to do with wanting to slow down the clock a little. There are well-known perceptual causes for why time seems to pass faster as one gets older, although I wonder how much of it has to do with adults not living in the present as much as children do. I'm finding that when I make "now" sufficiently interesting, there's less of a desire to fast-forward to the next interesting thing. I guess this is what happens when I have free time.
ObJob: I have an interview lined up, and I'm talking to a headhunter today about a couple of other openings that look worthwhile.

Date: 2002-06-29 09:20 am (UTC)I start my new job, amusingly, at your ex-company, on Monday, and I feel like I've pretty much wasted the last 4 months, not getting anything useful done.
