So here I sit, in the lower level of a Starbucks Coffee in Cambridge, UK.

I've studied for class,
I've answered work email,
I've started writing the trip report,
I've offloaded the photos and started post-production,
and I'm feeling remarkably ready to get back home to Boston and normal life.

But ya know? I'll tell ya. It's really nice to feel the urge to be productive again. I lost it for a while. I was letting things slide, letting life move forward a little too fast, and moving from node to node as one does when one's entire life is planned, leaving no room for life.

So,
I got out,
and I slowed down,
and I saw friends,
and I took pictures,
and I did a lot of nothing,
but not just normal nothing,
we're talking some high-quality, organic, free-range, cruelty-free nothing,
the kind of nothing that requires you to actually fill it with something real,
and not just kinda wait it out in a haze of guitar hero and twizzlers.

Fast Forward was getting old.
Rewind is impossible.
Pause was vital.
Time to Play.

Coincidentally, I just saw "Click", which lays out the same premise. The movie had the misfortune to have Adam Sandler in it, but it did make the message pretty clearly.

Ack, I missed your message on Sunday, as we were busy having [livejournal.com profile] filceolaire's birthday and stuff. Good to know you're on my side of the Atlantic! :)

There is probably some very simple answer to this, but I am trying to figure out how you know [livejournal.com profile] mangosteen. Small world and all.

Hope you guys are doing well over there. I read through your journal (public posts anyway) from time to time and think about you often.

Mutual friends in Boston fandom. I lived there for several years before moving to Atlanta.

Life is pretty good here. I hope it's treating you well, too.

Sorry I didn't get to catch up with you this time; unfortunately I was out of town during most of your trip! Maybe we can catch up next time you're around - I still owe you a karaoke duet. ;-)
