state of the job
Dec. 6th, 2001 08:47 amSo, I'm a geek. I work for a company that seems to have (mostly) survived the dot-com implosion, I'm doing interesting stuff, and the pay doesn't suck, either. All told, I consider myself pretty lucky, especially in this economy.
A major re-organization of the group I'm working in happened the day I returned from the UK. Net effect on me: I still have a job, and I'm getting to do stuff that's more relevant to what I really want to do. I have a couple of concerns, mostly along the lines of a great fear of getting a virtual pat on the head while being told "Oh, don't worry about actual design issues, there are people much smarter than you who will take care of that, just answer the pager when it goes off.", but for the first time in a while, I think that I have full control over whether that happens or not.
Now we'll see whether theory meets reality. I have no idea.
