It appears that I've found something new to do when I'm unable to sleep.

I'm finally writing up a (tech-) book proposal that I've been meaning to write for a month or two. I still have a hard time believing that I'm willing to commit myself to something like this, but a friend and I have hit upon an idea for which there is enough material to write a book, and I feel the pursuit to be eminently worthwhile, at least for now.

Fortune favors the bold, or so they say. This would probably make me feel better if I knew what I was boldly getting myself into.

My stepmother writes tech books. Based on my observations of her, I'd say you boldly getting yourself into:
  • time management hell, apply your organizational skills
(fortunately for her, she's really good at this).
  • a few months of overworked deadline-induced stress, like for a thesis.
  • a dangerous addiction.
"But I thought you finished the book last month!"
"I did. I'm working on a proposal for the next book."

Nah...if you knew what you were boldly getting yourself into, you'd probably run screaming in the opposite direction! ;-)
