Realization: There will be people in the world who will never like you. More often than not, this is not about abject hatred, or even active dislike. Rather, it is because the two of you have mutually incomprehensible ways of dealing with the world, and there will never be a common ground on which to build a friendship. Acnkowledge this, and move on.

Hm. Speaking as someone who has "mutually incomprehensible ways of dealing with the world" with many people, I have to say that I don't think it necessarily follows that "there will never be a common ground on which to build a friendship". In fact I count several people I place in that category as friends.

Why? Because while "Dealing with the world" is *a* factor, certainly, it doesn't encompass all factors.

That said, sure, if someone wants to put energy into not liking someone else, it's their call. I'm firmly of the opinion that it takes more energy to dislike someone than to like them.

It doesn't necessarily follow, but it's something to think about before one jumps to conclusions. Think along the lines of "Never attribute malice to what is more likely stupidity", but different.

Say it brother and say it loud. I've always had problems with the people who won't move on. If I don't like someone it doesn't mean that trying to work it out will nessecarily fix that. It is ok to not like or be liked by everyone. I do not have the time or inclination to build bonds with everyone in the world.

While on the one hand you're right, on the other hand estheruth and I have mutually incompatible and incomprehensible ways of dealing with the world. I don't quite know what to say about that, except that it's obviously not hopeless if there's a strong motivation to overcome it :)

Obviously. It's just another thing to take into consideration when trying to figure out why someone doesn't like you. If there's sufficiently strong motivation, it's relatively easy to find common ground.
