years in review

I used to look back on the end of the year with a regretful fondness for the time gone by.
Perhaps at the end of next year, I'll be able to do that again.
It has most certainly not all been bad, including one particularly happy event that happened in the past month. On the balance, though, I think I join most of my compatriots in thinking that tonight's New Year's Eve Parties will be just as much about kicking the old year out as they will be about ringing the new year in.
A toast....
...to lessons learned, and to learning the next ones faster.
...to balancing the books for the year and declaring them closed.
...and most importantly, to remembering to look forward when there's no sense in looking back.
A happy, healthy, and safe New Year to you all.

I'm not sure I've ever gone back and read all these before. Somehow, I was moved to tonight.
My Beloved, my b'shert.
