In reference to my previous posting, I just checked the New York Post this morning.

and the winner is:

header: PARALYZED
subheading: NY'ers stranded by huge blackout
picture: huge crowd of people walking across the Brooklyn(?) Bridge.

The Herald used "Lights Out!", so you guessed that one correctly.

In times (no pun intended) like this, I wonder how they avoid duplicating headlines. Do they have a Major Headline Clearinghouse with which to coordinate? Do they have a headline cabal that secretly whispers into an editor's ear when there is a risk of headline redundancy? Do they employ seers or time travel to Get It Right?

It's Time Travel, I'm sure of it.

Some geeks at MIT figured it out, or, uh, um, will figure it out.
