On the 18th day of September, in the year 2005, Martha Plotz and Kyle Ingols got married.

The groom was nervous,
the bride was beautiful,
and I was the official photographer.

Time to start building the portfolio. :)

No cleanup has been done to these shots.

(No access to the full-size originals for this collection. Someone paid for those.)

Needed more light on the cake-cutting shot.

Other than that, they look great!

yay pictahs!

I love the way you did the requisite 'Bride Reflecting in the Mirror' shot. You should have done one of Kyle too. Heh.

You could soooo clean up doing bridal photos. And if I'm making the dresses/veils and if Martha is making the keepsake quilt...monopoly Boston!!!

Oh, heck yeah. I was kidding but seriously, it seems to be the 'money shot' for most upscale wedding photographers who do more than posed pics at the site and candids at the reception.

I still like the idea of a shot of the groom in the mirror, looking terrified.

cute pictures involving nose interaction are an important part of wedding photography :)

would it be rude to ask if those are the entire set which is being given to the bride&groom, or if there are others?

looks very nice :)

I suspect you are correct. :)

We asked Ann-Marie to officiate because (a) she's cool and (b) she taught Kyle how to teach, so she has the right stage presence.

For her part of the ceremony, she read "The Owl and the Pussycat" and talked about the importance of various other characters in the poem (parallelling our family and friends) made the it possible for the Owl and the Pussycat to marry.

yesyes, annmarie kicks all sorts of butt.

i had a UROP with her and she was trying to finish her thesis which meant that i was being paid in some part to help her avoid work "hey, want to walk with me to the coop and get [whatever] and get coffee?" "sure! can't say no to the boss!"

i miss her. i wish i got to see her more often.
(entertainingly, i last saw her at [livejournal.com profile] chaiya and [livejournal.com profile] hakamadare's wedding...)

where did he learn how to teach from her?

Hello!

I learned to teach from Ann-Marie via the MIT Athena Minicourses. She effectively ran the show, and I showed up an almost-sophomore to learn how to teach four one-hour minicourses to incoming freshmen (and later, many others to all sorts of students).

I distinctly recall her organizing a drill around vocal projection; she gave us a bag of (awful, awful, awful!) Cheez Waffies snack food, and sat in the back of 26-100, and told us to sell her Cheez Waffies. We all projected, coming up with absurd selling points. :)

Those are really lovely.

I didn't know they were getting married! hah!

I really like the one of the bride looking out the window, as well as the one of them nose-kissing on the steps.

Nice work! Kelly and I looked at a bunch of wedding photographer sites when we needed to hire someone to photograph The Thing. Your pics demonstrate more technical skill than a lot of what we saw online.

Digital shots or film?

(guess you are on my list to do Padraic and My ceremony when we get the cash and the location) We already got married, but I still want a ceremony!

Unexpected...

I was at a wedding last summer where the long tables (it was in a church gym) were covered with that white paper you find on tables in bistros. There were crayons and markers provided and guests were encouraged to write, draw, doodle and play games on the tables. There was also a bucket of games to play at the end of the hall. It was great.

Well, [livejournal.com profile] xuth did a really good job on ours, but it's nice to know there's another great photographer in the crowd. (Well, actually, there are quite a few, but anyway.)

They are so adorable together, but I already knew that. :)

They are really marvelous pictures. There are also a lot of wonderful shots that you haven't made public -- I particularly like the one of Elizabeth and Madeline in their fancy dresses climbing a tree.

Thank you thank you for being our photographer. I never had any doubt that you'd do a great job, but it's been a pleasure looking at all the pictures this weekend.

Hey, so my brother is still looking for a photographer, and it turns out he'll be showing up tomorrow. I know we talked about general stuff, but do you have a place I can send him for details and a portfolio?

Date: 2005-10-08 02:10 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] bitty.livejournal.com
yes, I'd be interested in the job

Do keep in mind, however, that he is likely to reject you out of hand simply because *I* was the one who suggested you. For the record.

His fiancee is not without sense, however ;)

Anyway, he did seem interested, and he definitely wanted your contact info, so we'll see.

As an aside, if he did offer the gig and you did decide to take it, you'd be welcome to come out to Truro with us afterwards and get to spend some time actually *on* the Cape. (Since the wedding is a Saturday afternoon, we figure we'll drive to Falmouth directly that morning but then go to Truro that night and spend a couple of days there. Y'know. Sanity check.)
